The Homeowner Protection Office (HPO), a branch of BC Housing, has a great website: www.hpo.bc.ca

Any home registered with HPO, on or after, November 19, 2007 can be found on this site. You can find out if:

· If it has a new home warranty insurance policy;
· It was built by a Licensed Residential Builder or an owner builder;
· If it can be legally offered for sale.

This site also has a lot of other useful information too, such as Consumer Protection for Buyers of New Homes.
