On Thursday, November 18, 2010, I attended the Real Estate Foundation of British Columbia 2010 Land Awards Gala. I attended as a representative of the Appraisal Institute of Canada – BC Association; a gold sponsor of this event.

The Land Awards recognize initiatives which demonstrate leadership, innovation and collaboration related to the sustainable use and conservation of land in British Columbia. The awards highlight dynamic, forward-thinking people and organizations- leaders in creating sustainable communities and making BC a better place to live.”[1]

There are three categories:

  • Private sector
  • Government / public sector
  • Non-profit organization

Of 48 nominations there were nine finalists; see below. There is a link to a video of each of the finalists and the winner is highlighted in green. It is worth a watch as through cooperation between government, business and industry, residents, etc. possibilities in our own communities are endless. Prepare to be inspired as the realization that protecting our land and water and making our community a better place is within our grasp. Keystone Appraisals would like to applaud all the nominees for their efforts of working towards sustainable land use and conservation.
